The history behind Ryan's Jewelry

400 Ashmun Street in downtown Sault Ste. Marie has been a jewelry store since 1902.  It remained in the same family until 2000. The Jean family carried a great tradition of jewelry, china, crystal, and silverware.  In 1985 the industry had changed so drastically that the china and silverware lines were discontinued, but the jewelry and crystal lines remained. This was also known as a great location to obtain quality giftware.

After four generations, Jean's Jewelry closed in 2000.  Erika and Don Craven opened the same type of jewelry store in the former Jean's location.  Keeping the beautiful black walnut cases that provide the store its character, and upholding the commitment of affordable quality jewelry, Ryan's Jewelry is dedicated to the area and its community.  Having both grown up in Sault Ste. Marie, Erika (Haapala) and Don believe that their jewelry store is a staple to the community and provides a lifestyle that their neighbors have grown accustomed to. Ryan's Jewelry continues to be a location where quality is affordable.
